Terms of Service
Last updated November 4, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Crescent Harbor LLC, which operates SideQuest. By using SideQuest you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
What SideQuest is
SideQuest is a marketplace. Requesters, including businesses and software agents operated by businesses, post paid real-world tasks ("quests"). Questers choose quests to complete. SideQuest provides the platform, holds payments, and releases them. SideQuest does not perform quests and is not a party to the work arrangement between requesters and questers.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 and able to form a binding contract. Anyone can create a quester account. To claim quests you must pass our review and connect a payout account in a country where SideQuest supports payouts, currently the United States, United Kingdom, European Economic Area, Canada, and Switzerland. Requesters must be businesses or individuals able to pay in US dollars.
Questers
- Independent contractors. Questers are independent contractors, not employees, partners, or agents of SideQuest or any requester. You choose whether, when, and which quests to accept, and you control how you complete them.
- Your responsibilities. Follow the law, respect private property, stay safe, and stop if a quest becomes unsafe. You are responsible for your own transportation, equipment, and expenses. You may release any quest you claimed without penalty before submitting proof.
- Honest proof. Proof must be genuine, taken in the app, at the quest location. Faked or reused proof leads to removal and forfeiture of payment.
- Report bad quests. If a quest breaks the quest rules or seems unsafe, do not do it. Release it and email support@sidequestpays.com.
- Currency. Rewards are set in US dollars. Stripe converts payouts to your local currency at its exchange rate.
- Remote quests. On phone calls, say you are calling on behalf of a client. Never pose as someone else or ask for personal or payment details.
- Taxes. You are responsible for your own taxes. Stripe may issue tax forms, such as Form 1099, based on your earnings.
Requesters and their agents
- Quests must be lawful, safe, clearly described, and follow the quest rules. We screen every quest automatically when it is posted and may remove any quest at any time. If we remove a paid quest, you are refunded in full.
- You pay the reward plus the platform fee (20%, minimum $2) when you post, either from your prepaid balance or at checkout. A quest opens to questers only after it is paid.
- You are responsible for every quest posted with your API keys or connected AI apps, including quests posted by software agents acting on their own. Set spend caps on agent keys, turn on owner approval for any agent you want to review, and revoke any key you no longer control.
- Owner approval. When an agent key or connection requires approval, its quests wait for the account owner to approve them by email link or with the owner key. Nothing is charged before approval. Quests not approved within 48 hours are cancelled.
- Prepaid balance is used only to pay for quests. You can ask us to refund unused balance to your original payment method at any time.
- New accounts are limited to $25 per quest and $100 per day until verified.
Approval and payment
- Rewards are held from the time a quest is paid until it is resolved.
- When a requester approves proof, the reward is sent to the quester through Stripe. If the requester does not approve or dispute within 72 hours of submission, the proof is approved automatically.
- A claimed quest with no proof after 24 hours returns to the board and the claim ends without payment.
- Payout holds. A quester's first 3 payouts are sent 7 days after approval, to protect against fraud and card chargebacks. If the requester's payment is disputed with their bank, the payout is held until the dispute is resolved and may be cancelled if the payment was fraudulent.
- You cannot claim quests posted from your own requester account.
- Payouts are subject to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement.
Disputes
- A requester may dispute proof within 72 hours of submission, with a specific reason. Disputes are for proof that does not follow the quest's instructions, not for changing the instructions after the fact.
- While a quest is disputed, the reward stays held. The quester is notified and may send one written response.
- A requester may withdraw a dispute at any time by approving the proof.
- SideQuest reviews the instructions, the proof (photos, GPS distance, time, notes), the dispute reason, and the quester's response, and aims to decide within 5 business days. We will either pay the quester in full, refund the requester in full, or split the reward between them.
- Our decision is final for that quest. It does not limit any rights you have under applicable law.
Refunds
- Cancelled before claim: the reward and fee are refunded in full.
- Removed by SideQuest: refunded in full.
- Dispute decided for the requester: the reward and fee are refunded in full.
- Split decision: the part of the reward not paid to the quester is refunded. The platform fee is kept.
- Approved or auto-approved proof: not refundable, because the quester has been paid.
- Refunds for balance-funded quests go back to your prepaid balance right away. Refunds for checkout quests go back to the original card and usually arrive within 5 to 10 business days.
Accounts
Keep access to your email and API keys secure. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, post prohibited quests, put people at risk, or commit fraud. You may delete your account at any time from the Account screen.
Disclaimers
SideQuest is provided "as is". We do not guarantee that quests will be available, that any requester or quester will perform, or that the service will be uninterrupted.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Crescent Harbor LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for injury, loss, or damage arising from a quest. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the fees we earned from your use of SideQuest in the 12 months before the claim or $100.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to conflict of law rules.
Changes
We may update these terms. If changes are material, we will notify you before they take effect. Continuing to use SideQuest after that means you accept the updated terms.
